I own it...and it is a good idea. Every album in the box has been 'expanded'...most to the point of being 79 minutes long, and the sound is awesome. Lots of rare extra tracks, live versions, radio promos, etc. Great liner notes and pics too. And best of all, the bonus cut on "Live/Dead" is the studio version of "Dark Star," all three minutes of it, lol.

I wasn't disappointed, in fact, this set is much better than the second box set: "Beyond Description" which was a bit disappointing (bad liner notes, no "Steal Your Face" or "Without A Net," etc.)

but the BEST Dead related box imo is the All Good Things Jerry box set. Talk about loaded with extras

All three have their place. The lack of steal your face isn't too bad but without a net to be missing is a sin. All good things is a fine collection. I owned four of the five albums, including the expanded garcia, and still bought it.

If you had all of these you have the basis of a very good collection of studio music.

Perhaps the other band members solo efforts 70-80 could be collated, and expanded, Ace, Seastones, Rolling Thunder etc.
